Overview

Many people now want to switch their careers to DevOps. They start asking for advice here and there but eventually need help to finally begin. My attempt over here is to make the profession switching to DevOps easier. I'm a DevOps engineer and I started my career with zero knowledge of the IT world. I started as a fresher and am currently in a stable organization as a senior cloud engineer, having 3.5 years of experience.

Many of us think that having a certification in DevOps is a necessity for starting, and let me remind you it's just an added advantage rather than being step 1.

Is DevOps for you? Let's check.

Firstly, you need to find a reason why you want to switch to DevOps and whether is DevOps really made for you. Sounds quite a philosophical start right? Well, DevOps is a very "broad" term.
It involves a lot of things like application deployment, infrastructure setup, application monitoring, SLA-based troubleshooting, and of course, cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc).
People want to make a switch to DevOps because it's a high-paying role and many video creators say it's the new era tool.
Well, it pays well and it is going to be there in the market but you need to consider your ability to work in such environments. For example, if you can't handle the deployment of software into production, don't want to learn about languages like LINUX and POWERSHELL and other concepts like DOCKER, JENKINS, ANSIBLE, KUBERNETES, well and a lot more things, DevOps is not for you if you feel that you don't want to learn new things.
At times you may need to learn tools that you have not used before, and that's absolutely fine.

Remember

DevOps is not a tool that you can get a hands-on experience on, and just start working. It is a set of tools and technologies as mentioned above. It has a lot of learning curves as well, and you have to see whether or not you fit into it.

Here, I'm not trying to scare you off. Absolutely not.
I'm here just giving you a gist of it.

And again, if you are more scared than excited to go through this journey, don't worry I'm here for you.

Finally, let's get started. All the best for your journey you guys.
